When we think of Italy most of us ultimately think of its magnificently rich culture: its diverse architectural style, beautiful language, delicious cuisine and of course, the fashion. Unarguably Italian fashion is one of the most important in the world. In fact, Milan was named the fashion capital of the world with Italy being the birth place of some of the finest couture houses such as Versace, Gucci, Prada, Armani, Valentino, Dolce &Gabbana, Missoni, Fendi just to name a few. And, let’s not forget about the charm of the Italian men.
I got a chance to interview the fresh face and the only Sicilian male model of models.com whose name is Marco Castelli. Meeting Marco in person was a pleasant surprise, because not only he possesses physical charm but he is also an open and charismatic young individual. His down to earth personality and positive attitude add to his model appeal. During our interview Marco shared about his career, his interests, his family and his experience of being in NYC for the first time.
Fresh off Italy, Marco came to NY for his first fashion week and already he’s a big success. Only 9 months of professional modeling, he was able to book numerous jobs including ad campaigns for GF Ferrè, Julian Keen, and Grand Opening, and walking the runway shows for Francis Hendy (New York Fashion Spring 2012), Philipp Plein, Harmont & Blaine, and a presentation for Corneliani. His other notable work includes an editorial Coming to America for Fucking Young shot by Michael Mccloud and multiple photoshoots by photographers such as Thomas Synnamon, Cristina Capucci and Al Bruni-Ocana. In addition, Marco made an appearance in a campaign video called Girls Speak for Testimonial new brand (see the video below).
There’s no doubt Marco has an excellent taste. He has a great personal style which consists of a.blazer/jacket, a v-neck tee and a pair of slim fitted pants. He prefers Italian labels such as Prada and Moschino, but for Marco it’s all about mixing and matching. He likes to incorporate more affordable labels such as Zara and H&M into his look. Among his favorite Italian designers are Gucci and Ferragamo, American designers include Tom Ford, Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs, while Dior and Louis Vuitton are among his beloved french designers. As for the fellow models, Marco loves Adriana Lima and Kate Moss, who I have to say happen to be my inspirations as well.
At 21 years old, Marco is currently the face of GF Ferrè and busy working on numerous projects, advertising C.P. company being the latest. His sharp handsome features, unique style and Italian charm will soon make the fashion industry all over the world welcome him with open arms. Marco has big aspirations. His dream is to appear in a Gucci and Tom Ford ad campaigns and become a well known top model. With stardom potential that he has, somehow I have a feeling that it will happen sooner than he thinks :) We certainly wish him the best of luck!
